Many people make New Year’s resolutions, only to falter and fail long before the year is out. I know I have done so in the past and it is extremely disheartening.
So I have created a tradition of making at least one resolution I know I will be able to keep. Last year, I resolved not to acquire any more animals. It wasn’t easy, but with my family’s help, particularly that of my husband, I succeeded and still have only one horse and one dog.
So what’s my one “absolutely keepable” resolution for this year? I have decided to avoid being the first woman to scale the CN Tower in a tutu. I expect this to be somewhat easier to keep than last year’s.
And what other resolutions am I making for 2024?
- ~ I resolve to move forward into 2024 with a newfound sense of hope: hope that the world will regain some sanity, and hope that I will be able, in whatever small way, to make the world a better place by my actions.
- ~ I resolve to maintain my optimism, to keep smiling, and to seek out the positive rather than dwell on the negative.
- ~ I resolve to be kinder to people, and to my family in particular, as they often take the brunt of my frustrations, which are engendered elsewhere. I also want to be more aware of how I treat everyone I encounter, and work to treat them as I would like them to treat me.
These are pretty trite resolutions, but I think that if I manage to keep them, at least part of the time, 2024 will be a better year.
With all the best wishes from me to you, for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
