New Year, new you?
So, everyone’s posting all over social media how much they wish everyone else the very best in the New Year. And I bet they’re making resolutions all over the place, too.
That’s great. I used to do that.
I was full of resolve to lose weight, eat better, exercise more, stop procrastinating, keep a tidier house – you name it. And the sense of failure when I realized that I was not keeping up with those resolutions was really depressing.
This year I am not making specific resolutions like that. Instead, I am resolving to be just a little better. At everything.
This sounds like a tall order, but it’s really not. All it takes is to really be aware of what I am doing and do it to the best of my ability. If that means trying to eat better, I can do that. Not every day, but better than I’ve been doing in general. I can do that. Using an app to help me stay focused and stop procrastinating? I can do that. Walk for exercise more often? I can do that. Pick up after myself? I can do that. Be kinder, more thoughtful, more of who I’d like to grow up to be? I can do that.
“I can do that!” What a powerful phrase to start the New Year on. What’s yours?
