I’m entering a new chapter in my life, and as it begins, I ask myself “Why am I doing this?”
As of March 2, 2009, I’m attending a very intensive 13 month, full-time Web Technology program at my local College, by way of a midlife crisis career change. I have been writing bits and pieces of notes to myself, kind of like a journal, and they are scattered all over my (way too huge) hard drive, saved with names that no doubt made sense to me at the time but that now are impossible to find…
One way to keep this all straight, force myself to be a bit more organized, and preserve the memories I am making during this extremely intense experience, is to put it online. So, it looks like I, who have been extremely reluctant to join the “bloggers”, now find myself in possession of my very own cyber-soapbox.
I have always felt that bloggers are basically narcissists only interested in establishing a Cult of Personality (a paraphrase from Peter Isackson) or bored teenagers seeking to expand the possibilities of future embarrassments (once it’s online, it lives forever…). But I HATE Facebook. So that leaves me thinking it’s time – yes, that’s right, me – Anti-Blog-Woman, starting one of her very own…
So I’ve been looking at the eighty-million-and-one definitions of the word “blog” (online, of course) and I’ve come to the conclusion that a blog can be almost anything the author wants it to be. In my case, I’m going to use this blog to chronicle my evolution into WebMom.
So here goes…
Wish me luck.
My spouse and I stumbled over here different website and thought I may as well check things out. I like what I see so i am just following you. Look forward to checking out your web page repeatedly.
Wonderful! Ten years- I had no idea – I wish I had started that long ago.
Ha ha love your writing style very engaging.
I also have journal notes, thoughts, unfinished stories all over unfortunately mine are on paper at least yours were already digitalized??
Ten ago! That’s inspiring. How did the intensive course go?
The course went very well – after I got past being at least 30 years older than everyone else in the class – including some of the professors!
I enjoyed it so much that I go back every year for more programming courses. I love CSS, am intrigued and frustrated by AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And Xml), and now have a fairly firm grasp on PHP.
I opened my own web development company when I graduated, and I’m happy to say that I’m still in business. 🙂
I meant to say ten years ago. lol
That is awesome! Congratulations on your learning and your company. Gonna pm you.
Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times
it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Chrome.
Exceptional Blog!
